Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) Program

Launching in Brampton, September 2025, Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is an evidence-based home visitation program designed to work with vulnerable, isolated, and often low-income newcomer mothers of children between three and five years of age.

HIPPY leverages newcomer mothers’ motivation to give their children the best possible chance at life and builds their capacity, confidence, and community connections as they take on the lead role in preparing their children for school. Home Visitors provide in-home HIPPY sessions to newcomer mothers.

Supporting Mothers and Raising Toddlers (SMART), is a companion program to HIPPY and is for parents of younger children. SMART is a play-based learning program for newcomer mothers of children aged 18 to 36 months. It focuses on deepening parent-child bonds, fostering healthy early childhood development, increasing connections to community resources, and strengthening social networks.
